Ham and peas baked pasta

This ham and peas baked pasta is a delicious dish that you can prepare in advance and bake at the last minute. Try it! It is easy and yummy! I am sure that your family will gobble up this pasta.

ham and peas baked pasta INGREDIENTS (for 4 people)

  • 400 g of short pasta
  • 1 small red onion
  • 2 slices of cooked ham (200 g)
  • 250 g of peas (frozen or canned)
  • extra virgin olive oil
  • salt
  • black pepper
  • grated Parmesan cheese to sprinkle

For the bechamel sauce:

  • 300 ml of milk
  • 25 g of unsalted butter
  • 25 g of flour
  • salt
  • 1 pinch of nutmeg

Dice the ham slices.

In a large non-stick pan heat some table spoons of extra virgin olive oil; add the onion (finely minced) and saute until slightly softened and fragrant.

DSCF4550 Cook over medium heat for 2 minutes, then add the peas.

DSCF4551Season with salt and pepper and cook for some minutes. Gently mix using a wooden spoon.

Meanwhile take a pot, fill it with water and put it on the stove, heat it until it boils. Put a lid on to make it boil faster. When the water boils, add a generous pinch of salt.

Then put the pasta in the water and cook until “al dente”.

Drain with a colander and quickly cool down your pasta by rinsing it under cold running water.

Then,  pour it in the pan and add the bechamel sauce.

DSCF4552Stir to combine all the ingredients.


Grease a baking pan with butter and put the pasta in it.

Sprinkle with grated Parmesan Cheese.

DSCF4555Preheat the oven to 200°. Bake for 10 minutes, then turn the oven to grill for 3 minutes.

Serve the ham and peas baked pasta hot.
