Italian bread fritters
Carnival is coming and, therefore, the fritters are coming. 😉
In this post I’m going ti show you how to make this classic but very tasty sweet fritters, that you can fill with any jam or cream that you like: Italian bread fritters! 🙂
Superfine flour: 17.60oz (500g)
Freash brewer’s yeast: 0.90oz (25g)
Jam (I chose the apricot jam): 10.60oz (300g)
Warm water: about 3.50fl oz (100ml) + 1 small cup
1 tablespoon of granulated sugar
Powdered sugar to taste
Time: 1h + 1h rising
Start dissolving the yeast and the tablespoon of sugar into the cup of warm water.
In a bowl place the sifted flour and, in the centre, pour the dissolved yeast.
Start to knead adding the warm water little a time until the dough becomes smooth and homogeneous.
Put the dough in a floured bowl, cover it it a clean cloth and let it rise for one hour.
Then, cut the dough into pieces and fill tiem with the jam. Be careful to close them very well, otherwise the jam will come out.
Heat the oil in a large pan and, when it boils, put the fritters into the pan, a few at time.
When they are golden brown, remove them from the pan and let the dry over some kitchen paper.
Serve them warm covered with powdered sugar.
Children will adore them! 🙂
