Did Our Best Moment last –
‘Twould supersede the Heaven –

A few – and they by Risk – procure –
So this Sort – are not given –

Except as stimulants – in
Cases of Despair –
Or Stupor – The Reserve –
These Heavenly Moments are –

A Grant of the Divine –
That Certain as it Comes –
Withdraws – and leaves the dazzled Soul
In her unfurnished Rooms

Se il Momento più Bello durasse –
Rimpiazzerebbe il Cielo –
Pochi – e a proprio Rischio – se ne ottengono –
Perciò di tal Fatta-non ne vengono dati

Se non come incitamento – in
Casi di Disperazione –
O Stordimento – Una Riserva –
Sono quei Celestiali Momenti –

Una Concessione del Divino –
Che così come Arriva –
Si Ritrae – e lascia l’Anima stordita
Nella sua spoglie Stanze
